WordPress Development

WordPress, built properly: fast to load, easy to edit, hard to break.

WordPress is popular because it is flexible and easy to edit. It also gets a bad reputation from bloated themes and too many plugins. We build lean custom themes on the block editor, so your team gets the flexibility without the slowdown.

What usually goes wrong

A page builder theme that weighs more than the content.

Multipurpose themes and visual builders load code for features you never use, which hurts speed and search performance.

Thirty plugins, and nobody knows which ones matter.

Every plugin is another update to manage, another possible conflict and another security risk.

Editors are afraid to touch anything.

When one wrong click can break a layout, content updates go back to developers and slow the whole team down.

How we approach it

Custom block themes, with guardrails.

We build custom themes on the native block editor, with patterns and blocks designed for your content. Editors assemble pages from approved components, so pages stay on brand and layouts do not break.

We keep only the plugins that earn their place, write custom functionality where that is cleaner, and set up caching, image optimisation and security hardening from the start. For WooCommerce stores we focus on product pages, cart and checkout, where speed and clarity matter most.

If WordPress should manage content behind a separate front end, we also build headless setups using the REST API or WPGraphQL.

A good fit if

  • Your marketing team publishes often and needs to do it without a developer.
  • You run WooCommerce and want a faster, clearer store.
  • Your current WordPress site has become slow or fragile.

Probably not the right fit if

  • You sell a large, complex catalogue with B2B pricing and several store views. Magento may suit you better.
  • You only need a few static pages that rarely change.

Tools we use

  • WordPress
  • Block editor

How the project runs

Most WordPress websites take 5 to 9 weeks. WooCommerce stores and migrations take longer, depending on catalogue size and integrations.

  1. Diagnose

    Week 1

We review your current site, analytics and competitors, and talk to whoever handles your enquiries. You receive a written diagnosis of where leads are being lost. We need about an hour of your time and access to your analytics.

  2. Architect

    Weeks 2 to 3

Sitemap, content plan and technical architecture. You receive a full site plan and a fixed quote. Design only starts once you have signed off.

  3. Design

    Weeks 3 to 5

High-fidelity design for every page type and screen size. You receive a clickable prototype, and we ask for two rounds of feedback, each within 48 hours.

  4. Build

    Weeks 5 to 9

Development, content entry and testing across devices. You follow progress on a live staging link the whole way, not only at the end.

  5. Launch and grow

    Ongoing

Go-live, monitoring and 30 days of aftercare at no extra cost. Everything we built is yours. If you want to keep improving it, we continue on a monthly plan you can pause or cancel.

Questions buyers ask

Why not just use a premium theme?

Premium themes are built to do everything for everyone, which makes them heavy and harder to maintain. A custom theme includes only what your site needs, so it is faster and easier to keep secure.

Can you speed up our existing WordPress site?

Often, yes. We review the theme, plugins, hosting and images, then fix what has the biggest effect. Sometimes the honest answer is that a rebuild costs less than repeated patching, and we will say so.

Is WordPress secure?

WordPress core is well maintained. Most problems come from outdated plugins, weak passwords and poor hosting. We keep plugins to a minimum, harden the configuration and offer maintenance plans that keep everything updated.

Can you move us from Wix, Squarespace or another CMS?

Yes. We map your content, rebuild it in a structure that suits WordPress and set up redirects so you keep your search visibility.
