Magento Development

Magento stores that stay fast as the catalogue and the traffic grow.

Magento is the right platform when your catalogue, pricing or store setup is genuinely complex. It also needs experienced care to stay fast. We build, upgrade and optimise Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce stores, with checkout and performance first.

What usually goes wrong

Checkout has more steps than buyers will tolerate.

Every extra field and page between cart and payment gives a buyer a reason to stop. Ecommerce usability research consistently lists long or complicated checkouts among the main reasons carts are abandoned.

Category and search pages slow down as the catalogue grows.

Thousands of products, layered navigation and heavy extensions can push load times beyond what shoppers will wait for.

Upgrades keep getting postponed.

Each skipped release makes the next upgrade harder and leaves security patches unapplied.

How we approach it

Start where the revenue leaks.

We begin with a store audit covering checkout analytics, server and database performance, extension health, indexing and front-end weight. The result is a ranked list of fixes based on likely impact on revenue.

For checkout we cut steps, allow guest checkout, show delivery costs early and make payment options clear. For speed we tune caching with Varnish and Redis, configure OpenSearch properly, remove or replace heavy extensions and, where it pays off, move to a lighter front end such as Hyvä.

Upgrades are planned on staging with full regression testing. Integrations with ERP, PIM, payment and shipping systems are built to be reliable and logged, so a failed sync is noticed by us rather than by your customers.

What you get

Store audit
Checkout, performance, extension and code quality review, with prioritised fixes.
Checkout optimisation
Fewer steps, clearer costs and the payment methods your markets expect.
Performance work
Caching, search, database and front-end improvements, measured before and after.
Upgrades and patches
Version upgrades and security patches, tested on staging first.
Integrations
ERP, PIM, payment, shipping and marketplace connections.
Migrations
From Magento 1 or other platforms, or away from Magento when it is no longer the right fit.

A good fit if

  • You have a large or complex catalogue, B2B pricing, or several store views and currencies.
  • Your Magento store has become slow or hard to upgrade.
  • You sell in several countries from one platform.

Probably not the right fit if

  • You have a small catalogue and simple needs. A hosted platform will cost less to run, and we will recommend it.

Tools we use

  • Magento Open Source
  • Adobe Commerce
  • PHP 8
  • Hyvä
  • OpenSearch
  • Varnish
  • Redis
  • MySQL

How the project runs

Store audits take one to two weeks. Optimisation and upgrade work is scoped from the audit. A new store build typically takes 12 weeks or more.

  1. Diagnose

    Week 1

We review your current site, analytics and competitors, and talk to whoever handles your enquiries. You receive a written diagnosis of where leads are being lost. We need about an hour of your time and access to your analytics.

  2. Architect

    Weeks 2 to 3

Sitemap, content plan and technical architecture. You receive a full site plan and a fixed quote. Design only starts once you have signed off.

  3. Design

    Weeks 3 to 5

High-fidelity design for every page type and screen size. You receive a clickable prototype, and we ask for two rounds of feedback, each within 48 hours.

  4. Build

    Weeks 5 to 9

Development, content entry and testing across devices. You follow progress on a live staging link the whole way, not only at the end.

  5. Launch and grow

    Ongoing

Go-live, monitoring and 30 days of aftercare at no extra cost. Everything we built is yours. If you want to keep improving it, we continue on a monthly plan you can pause or cancel.

Questions buyers ask

Should we stay on Magento or move to another platform?

It depends on your catalogue, pricing rules and integrations. Magento is strong when the complexity is real. If most of it is no longer used, a simpler platform may save money every month. We give you an honest comparison.

We are still on Magento 1. What now?

Magento 1 reached end of life in June 2020 and no longer receives official security patches, so moving is urgent. We plan migrations to Magento 2 or another platform, including products, customers, orders and redirects.

What is Hyvä, and do we need it?

Hyvä is a lightweight front-end theme for Magento 2 that can greatly reduce page weight. It is a strong option for stores with performance problems, but your extensions must be compatible, which we check first.

Can you integrate with our ERP or warehouse system?

Yes. We scope integrations once we know the systems involved, and build them with logging and error handling.

Ask for a Magento store audit.

We will look at checkout, speed and upgrade risk, and tell you where the biggest gains are.
